Summer Maintenance

Here’s a tip you may find helpful as you conduct and plan your building’s maintenance:

During the summer months, it is especially important to vacuum lobby floors thoroughly before wet mopping.  Vacuuming removes particles and dirt, which prevents scratches from forming in marble and granite flooring. When marble and granite become scratched the light hitting the flooring cannot reflect and is unable to produce a shine.

If scratches have already been formed, it is important to sand out any flaws before honing and polishing to produce the highest shine possible. If the scratches are not removed, the floor will lose its shine very quickly. When all three processes (sanding, honing, and polishing) are used the resulting lustre will give you the fresh and luxurious finish you want, and it will last significantly longer than it would without sanding.
